Glad to have read this. I particularly found the descriptions of the voyage to NZ fascinating (and appalling), and inevitably reflected on my own ancestors who made that journey even earlier than the Oades' did. I was impressed with how the author managed to make both of the wives sympathetic characters, although I admit the bulk of my Sympathy was with Margaret.
